SCI-FI & FANTASY BOOK REVIEWER… …and struggling writer.

SCI-FI-LONDON Oktoberfest

SCI-FI-LONDON Oktoberfest 2009This years SCI-FI-LONDON Oktoberfest brings together some fine science-fiction authors to debate the relevance of writing about space travel and interplanetary colonisation in a day and age where we know the time taken and costs involved make it largely an irrelevance for most of us. Against this backdrop we have issues such as climate change, global pandemics, energy, problems, population growth, impending food shortages that effect us here and now and that we can all relate to so shouldn’t these visionaries be writing about stuff that we can directly relate to?

The full event takes place on Friday 23rd October 2009 at The Royal Observatory, Greenwich, London SE10 with the literary debate being held in the library, which should be a fantastic setting for everyone who comes along. Taking part on this panel are Jaine Fenn, Alastair Reynolds, Paul McAuley and Paul Graham-Raven and chairing the debate will be Tom Hunter, Award Administrator for the Arthur C Clarke Literary Award.

More details including times and ticket prices for the full event which includes a Planetarium show entitled The Sci-Fi-Universe along with a Battle of Ideas Debate, a workshop with sci-fi writer Simon Guerrier called ‘Mining for Stories’ and a screening of the latest STAR TREK blockbuster in the Planetarium itself can be found at SCI-FI-LONDON.com.

Don’t miss it, look forward to seeing you there!
